Kids Paper Plate Crafts
Paper plates are a fun way for kids to create just about anything and they are easy to obtain from any supermarket or craft shop. Using paper plates for crafts also reduces wastage because you can recycle them when your child has finished their plate.
As you can see from the photographs on this page and the paper plate snake activity that I have provided below, there are lots of ways to decorate your paper plates and you need few craft materials to make them..
Using plastic plates are a good idea if you want them to be sturdy and are happy to stick on the pieces that you want. However you will be unable to use felt pen or crayon because it will generally rub off plastic plates.
Make Your Own Snake From a Paper Plate
Here's a snake that you can make very easily using a paper plate. This is a fun exercise for your kids to do and much safer than encountering the real thing!
It's easy to make, requiring few items. Here's what you will need and the instructions.
What you will need
- One round paper plate.
- Brown paint .
- Small quantity of white and pink paper for the eyes and tongue.
- Glue.
- Scissors (do be careful with scissors around children and let them know the safety issues with them and always be there to supervise when they are being used).
How to make it
- Paint the paper plate on both sides and leave it to dry.
- Cut two small circles from the white paper and put a black dot in the middle of each for the pupil.
- Cut a tongue shape using the pink paper.
- Starting from the edge of the plate cut around it in a circular shape towards the centre and when you are fairly close to the centre form the head of the snake.
- Stick the eyes and tongue on the head.
